When asked what the most important law in the OT was, Jesus responded "do unto others what you would have them do unto you"

Matthew 22:35-40 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him. “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law? “Jesus said to him, "’you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

It is impossible to overstate the significance of these words; the entire Old Testament depends on these two laws! But Jesus summed it up even more in another place;

Matthew 7:12 Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

This is the so-called golden rule and according to Jesus, every word in the OT is summed up in this maxim; which Paul confirmed later to the Gentiles in...

Romans 13:8-10 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law. For the commandments ... are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Love doesn’t harm a neighbour. Love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.

We, uniquely among Bible researchers apparently, take these words literally. That EVERY concept, every example, every law or judgment or concept in the Bible is derived from a perfect understanding of how you would want to be treated. Don't understand faith? Apply the golden rule – ask yourself how you'd want your neighbor, kids, or God to trust you... and then treat them that way.

Don't understand grace? Think about how you would extend grace to others, to pay their debts to you; think about how you apply the concept to the electric company, license plates, and good friends who say something to annoy you... and suddenly you understand grace perfectly. Because you know how you would want to be treated, therefore you know how God wants to be treated.

Every concept, and I mean literally EVERY CONCEPT in the Bible can be fully explained – no, let me rephrase that – can ONLY be explained fully by using the golden rule to explain it. By asking yourself how you'd want your kids to treat you, you know what God expects from you. By asking yourself how you'd want your wife to treat you, you'll know what God expects from His bride. By knowing how you want your enemies to treat you, you'll know how God expects you to treat your enemies.

Easy. Obvious. True.
